Restyled FRCP take effect today

If you’re wondering why the air feels subtly different today, I’ll tell you: the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure’s kinder, gentler “restyling” has taken effect today. At first blush (and as a 1L entering December, I don’t have time for any further blushes) I’m in favor, assuming it can be done accurately. An occasional rewrite of an oft-referenced rulebook can remind us that ultimately, we’re solving today’s problems, not venerating yesterday’s sacred texts. We’re practicing law here, not midrash. Of course, since this is law, others are bound to disagree.
