Bon Iver - Woods Tabbed by Dan Ray (http://danray.org/) Sat 10/09/10 Why would anybody tab a song without a guitar part? If you've heard the song, and you like spacey jams like I do, maybe you'll understand. This track, first released on Bon Iver's Blood Bank EP, might as well be an instrumental, with Justin Vernon's Autotuned voice as the instrument. Given the pitch correction, it's pretty easy to pick out the melody on a guitar. I haven't played around with it too much yet, but I'm envisioning cascading loops, some delay and reverb, and some judicious pitch-shifting — a spacey jam. Of course, there's a lot of arrangement possibilities — if you haven't heard it, check out the fuller treatment Justin Vernon gives it on the Volcano Choir's "Unmap" (where it's retitled "Still"). There are four vocal lines to a "verse," and eleven verses in the Blood Bank version. I've just tabbed out the main line and given a road map for the rest of the song. Where the voices diverge in the last half of the song, there's no sense in following the recording exactly — and anyway, I'm not up to tabbing out every last flourish.
